In 2019, we - a group of Tanzanians - raised a few hundred dollars from our community - and from our friends & family abroad - to finance health insurance for children living in our neighbourhoods. From this grew the vision that today, in a globalized world, local communities and their global networks can take the change needed into their own hands.
Our approach is radically different from NGOs or other international aid projects. We are fully transparent regarding the use of funds. Since our projects are small and simple, we can publish all our income and expenses, as well as detailed impact reports. And because the management is completely volunteer based, every single shilling given to the fund is used exclusively for the projects. There is no money wasted on high staff salaries or office buildings abroad.

Our vision is that, instead of waiting for a few billionaires and rich foreign governments to come and go, we should have local foundations all over the world in every community, run by locals who know exactly what their communities require, and financed by locals and their global network. We hope to mobilize more individuals through personal networks, making them start to give directly instead of wasting their donation on the high staff salaries of international NGOs.
One of our key motivations is that already now, the size of global remittance to Africa is 3x larger than the amount of aid. This difference is growing with increasing migration.
This is why we also support other community leaders to build their own local foundations.
Our mission is to transform social networks into agents of positive change that alleviate poverty in local communities ".
Every year our social network makes small donations to help poor children in communities. We mainly support health insurance, Scholarships and educational materials.
